Celebrating the achievements that make our Community Clubs so special

As our Community Clubs take a well-earned summer break, we’ve been reflecting on another fantastic term of inclusive sport, friendship and achievement.

The final sessions of the term were full of celebration, recognising not only what happens on the sports court, but the determination, perseverance and commitment shown by our members throughout the year.

Celebrating commitment

At Club Wandsworth, one of our newest members, Bilal, received a Jack Petchey Foundation Outstanding Achiever Award.

Despite moving further away and facing a much longer journey to the club, Bilal rarely misses a session because he loves being part of the group. His dedication is a wonderful example of the positive impact that welcoming, inclusive opportunities to be active can have. Bilal’s mum said, ‘Bilal just loves it so much! He’s always keen to take part, because he loves being with his friends.’

Recognising determination and perseverance

Sisters Holly and Emily also had plenty to celebrate after both receiving Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards.

Nominated by our Head Coach Debbie at Community Club Sutton, they were recognised for the determination and perseverance they’ve shown throughout the year.

When Holly received her award, she said, “Thank you, I’m so happy.” Emily simply smiled and said, “Thank you.”

Their mum later shared this heartfelt message with our team:

“Thank you again for all you do, it’s such a lovely group. We will miss seeing you during the summer break.”

Feedback like this reminds us that our Community Clubs are about far more than sport. They help disabled people build confidence, develop friendships and become part of a supportive community, while giving families somewhere they know they’ll always receive a warm welcome.

A team effort

Our celebrations didn’t stop there. Members also enjoyed some end-of-term treats, like exercise bands to keep active over the summer. Our Head Coach Debbie was also surprised with a beautiful cake to thank her for another fantastic year of coaching at Club Wandsworth.

We’re incredibly proud of Bilal, Holly and Emily, and grateful to every coach, volunteer, family and supporter who helps make moments like these possible.

Together, we’re breaking down barriers so more disabled people across London can experience the joy, confidence and connection that inclusive sport brings.
