A partnership between Disability Sports Coach, the London Borough of Merton, and the Tim Henman Foundation has significantly improved activity levels among children after just a year.
Launching in September 2024 with tennis legend Tim Henman attending, Community Club Merton is a free inclusive sports club for all disabled children and young people in the borough. Alongside this, the Tim Henman Foundation has delivered 10 hours of inclusive sports at schools each week, reaching children aged 5-18. Activities include fun and engaging tennis sessions catering to children with a range of needs.
After a year, the impact of the partnership has been remarkable.
- Over 180 pupils reached each week
- 94% say their more active than before
- 80% now do at least 2.5 hours of activity a week – up from just 26%
We can’t wait to continue our partnership and enhance the lives of more children across Merton in the years to come. We’re so grateful to the Tim Henman Foundation and Merton Council for your support and funding.
