70 disabled people get active at our Easter Sports Day 2017!

Paralympian Kate Grey & RBKC Cllr Ahern also in attendance at our record-breaking sports day on the 5th April 2017

With members from our West Region Community Clubs, to groups in the heart of the community, we were joined by 70 disabled people making it our most attended Sports Day yet. With an action packed morning, members were spoilt for choice with a number of inclusive sports and activities available.

Kate Grey, former GB Paralympian & DSC Patron and RBKC Cllr Tim Ahern attended as special guests and thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Kate commented, “The Disability Sports Coach Easter Sports Day 2017 was jam packed full of brilliant sports and activities. It was great to see so many different people with different disabilities getting involved and most importantly having fun. It really did cater for all with lots of inclusion as well as a competitive finale.”

As an extra bonus, members also got the opportunity to be pictured with Kate during her Instagram takeover for DSC – “I really enjoyed capturing all the action on the Instagram Takeover as well as getting involved myself.”

Middlesex Cricket, Wheelchair Dance & Sport Association, Safe Haven Basketball and Westway Fives brought their expertise in Cricket, Dance, Basketball and Wall Sports whilst we delivered New Age Kurling – giving members a diverse range of activities to get involved with.

The tasters didn’t stop there! Wheels for All also delivered inclusive cycling in the afternoon whilst members had a chance to compete in a Cricket and New Age Kurling competition. Although the results were tight, it was a team formed of Club Kensington & Chelsea and EPIC who took the top spot.

Thank you to EPIC, Yarrow Housing, Hammersmith and Fulham Mencap, Woodbine Clubhouse and all our Community Club Members who came to enjoy the day. An extra special thank you to all the providers, our club volunteers and PCubed for supporting the day!

More pictures from the day can be seen on all our social media platforms, Facebook, Twitter & Instagram.

We hope to see you all at our Summer Festival 2017 in July!
