Members from our west region Community Clubs Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Brent and Hillingdon came together to take part in this record-breaking day. Our club members were joined by local groups EPIC, Westminster Society, John Billam Resource Centre, Share Community, Yarrow Housing, Action on Disability, Scope and Generate to pack the whole 8-court sports hall.

From Trampoline to Badminton, participants took advantage of our largest array of sports on offer and it was clear nobody was stuck for choice. We had 6 very different but very exciting sports that the participants could try their hand at. Remind yourself of our Spring ClubGames delivery team here.

One of the sports that DSC delivered was Sitting Volleyball which was supported by GB Sitting Volleyball Paralympian, Kat Hawkins. Kat wasn’t shy about showing her expertise and was even giving pointers on how to win!

Kat Hawkins, GB Sitting Volleyball Paralympian, commented: “I had such a great time at the DSC Spring ClubGames. Seeing so many people enjoying such a range of accessible sports was incredible to see and really reminded me just how powerful sport can be. For disabled people, who are so often left out of conversations and sports spaces, to have this day where everyone is welcome, respected and engaged is so important. Most importantly it was such a fun day, we laughed a lot”

After a fun-filled morning, participants were split into teams before battling it out in a thriving Baseball competition, provided by Baseball Softball UK. It was the mighty team formed by Share Community and Yarrow Housing that took the home run and came out on top – although just 3 points separated all 4 teams!

A special thanks to our DSC coaches and volunteers who helped make the day so remarkable. Also a big thank you must go to the London Youth Games workforce team, BT Gradnet Charity & Volunteering and Gradnet Sports for providing extra volunteers for our event.

More pictures from the day can be seen on all our social media platforms, Facebook, Twitter & Instagram.

We hope to see you all at our Summer Festival 2018 on the 27th July!
