200 sessions, 400 hours & 24,000 minutes… We’ve reached the amazing milestone of delivering our 200th session with Share Community today!
Twice a week since 2015, we have been delivering a range of sports and physical activity sessions on a regular basis with the Disabled People’s Organisation Share Community, based in Wandsworth.
We are currently delivering fan-favourites, Boccia and Zumba with our coaches Maddy and Brenda. On occasion, with weather permitting, we also venture outside of their facilities on healthy walks to Clapham Common’s outside gym.
Our sessions have always been hugely popular with Share’s members, and the sports sessions attract at least 15 members each week. A handful of Share’s members have also joined our Community Club Wandsworth to get even more active, smashing their 150 minutes per week target!
Hugh Elsegood, DSC’s Sport & Physical Activity Manager said: “All our coaches speak fondly of the sport and physical activity sessions they deliver at Share. They are met with a warm welcome and the classes are always well supported with enthusiastic participants. The standard of Boccia on Mondays has improved significantly whilst the Friday Zumba classes provide a great work out in a really fun and inclusive environment.”
Jenny Bourlet, Share Community’s Healthy Living Coordinator said: “It’s been great running the sports sessions with Disability Sport Coach who adapt the activities to ensure everyone can get involved. The students really enjoy them and it’s a fun way to get fit.”
