We are stepping into 2016 with our new ‘Dance & Move!’ sessions in our Community Clubs. These are available for all our club participants and all those wishing to join their local Community Club, even if you just fancy a go at some dance!
Due to popular demand and a lack of provision, we are adding dance to our multi-sports Community Club programme. On the back of Sport England’s ‘This Girl Can’ campaign, we hope that dance will also attract more girls to our clubs.
The dance sessions are being delivered in partnership with Exercise, Movement, Dance Partnership (EMDP) and The Wheelchair Dance Association (WDA).
Emma Cranston, DSC Club Development Officer said, “It is apparent that there is a lack of disability specific dance sessions in London and these sessions will be the first stage to rectify this. With the help of EMDP and WDA, I’m pleased to be able to add it to the offer for those who attend our Community Clubs.”
Community Clubs Westminster and Tower Hamlets will feature dance throughout the term. Every other Community Club will have two taster sessions in January and February. If the sessions are a success, we will do our utmost to ensure that all disabled people continue to have access to dance sessions which meet their needs.
