In April, we organised a free Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) accredited training course aimed at staff working within the sports, physical activity and voluntary sectors.
The Level 2 Awareness in Health Improvement qualification provided candidates with an understanding of the principles of promoting health and wellbeing, thus enabling them to direct individuals towards further practical support in their efforts to attain a healthier lifestyle.
The course covered examples of inequalities in health, their possible causes and current approaches to tackling these inequalities. Candidates also learnt how effective communication can support health messages, how to promote improvements in the health and wellbeing of others and understand the impact of behaviour change on improving an individual’s health and wellbeing.
Representatives from Disability Sports Coach, GLL and Full of Life attended and successfully passed the end-of-course exam.
Thanks must go to the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea for providing funding through their Activate programme and also to GLL for hosting the course at Kensington Leisure Centre.
