DSC support Boccia Teams for London Youth Games’s ParaGames 2017

We recently provided specialist Boccia coaching to allow the London Boroughs of Sutton, Westminster and Southwark to enter teams into the annual London Youth Games ParaGames 2017 event.

Coaches were deployed at The Link School (LB Sutton) and Queen Elizabeth II School (LB Westminster) and provided an intense coaching programme leading up to the ParaGames Preliminary Championships held on Thursday 23 March 2017 at Westway Sports Centre. Community Club Southwark represented the London Borough of Southwark for the first time too at the Preliminary Championships in the East Region.

In the Secondary School section, The Link School won their group with victories over Hounslow and Merton and a draw against Harrow. In the quarter finals the team narrowly lost in a nail biting match against LB Hammersmith and Fulham.

Club Southwark narrowly missed out on qualification failing to recover from very tight defeats against Tower Hamlets & Haringey despite winning an end in each match!

This coaching programme enabled disabled youngsters from two London Boroughs to learn a new sport and for Club Southwark to test their skills in Europe’s largest youth sports competition.

If your London Borough would like bespoke support for future ParaGames events, please contact Hugh Elsegood on hugh@disabilitysportscoach.co.uk.
