East ClubGames returns with a bang!

After 3 years long years, the East ClubGames came back bigger & better than ever before.

Making its debut, Britannia Leisure Centre took host to the return of the EastGames on Wednesday 17thApril 2019. The sports hall was packed with activities with Football (West Ham United Foundation), Basketball (SafeHaven Basketball), Dance (ParaDance UK), Badminton (Black Arrows Badminton Club) and Boccia delivered by yours truly, ready from the get go!

When participants needed their well-earned break, our stall holders Hackney Hit Squad, Arsenal in the Community, The Change Foundation & Choice in Hackney took the opportunity to promote their services and introduce the participants to something new in their community.

82 participants came from far and wide (quite literally) with Community Club members from Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Islington, Hillingdon, Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster, Wandsworth and Southwarkall attending. Our club members were also joined community groups Apasen, Uniting Friends, Outward Hub Club, Woodbine Clubhouse, DALO, RSBC, PowerHouse for Women & Huddleston Centre for a very busy but amazing day!

After refuelling during lunch, our participants competed in Football & Boccia matches to see who would be the new EastGames champs. It was a tight score with a 3-way tie for second place but it was Club Tower Hamlets & Apasen Girls who took home the title.

Although only one winner could be crowned, all our participants enjoyed the day.

Don’t take our word for it, listen to what our members said!

“It helped build confidence & make me feel like I fit in and that I don’t have to hide. DSC team are good at making me feel part of the day.”

“The best way to socialise and meet people from different communities.”

“Always a fun day out!”

“Love coming to the ClubGames in addition to the Community Clubs – it brings everyone together.”
