Festive fun at our Christmas Club

Our Christmas Club returned with more people than ever enjoying an afternoon of festive fun and lunch!

Over 60 people joined a jam-packed day, featuring a range of sports including badminton, tennis, basketball, polybat and Boccia.

Participants then enjoyed a festive-themed relay race, working up an appetite ahead of a social lunch bringing friends and family together.

Our Christmas Club highlighted how disabled people are more likely to experience isolation and loneliness than non-disabled people, especially at Christmas.

Peter Ackred, CEO of Disability Sports Coach, said, ‘What a fantastic day. Everyone who joined us got to see friends over the Christmas period while taking part in many different sports.

More people joined this year than before, highlighting the need for our Christmas Club to help reduce loneliness over the festive season.’

Many thanks go to all staff, volunteers, parents and carers who helped support the event and to all those that gave kind donations.

A special thanks also to GLA Stronger Communities Fund, Tesco and Ecclesiastical, who are funding a number of our events to ensure disabled people can enjoy active, healthy lives.
