Friends’ fantastic Paris Marathon fundraiser

Disability Sports Coach is very proud of Hannah Paton, our Workforce Officer, who encouraged her friends to raise funds for us by taking part in the Paris Marathon.

Hannah couldn’t run the marathon herself after cancer surgery on her leg – so her friends stepped up instead!

A team of four novice marathon runners laced up their trainers to take part in the 2023 Paris Marathon in April.

After a gruelling race in the bitter cold, the friends have raised almost £1,5oo for our small charity.

Hannah’s friends, Shelley, Hannah (Porter), Hallam and Tom had never run a marathon before but after months of training all managed to cross the finish line.

Hannah (pictured fourth from left) said: “I saw how hard it had been when they got to the finish line! They did such a good job, so I want to say congratulations and a big thank-you.”

Peter Ackred, CEO of Disability Sports Coach said: “I would like to thank our Workforce Officer Hannah and her friends, who have shown such amazing support for Disability Sports Coach.

“Running the Paris Marathon is no mean feat and they have raised such an incredible amount for our work.

“Their generosity will ensure that we can continue to support more disabled people to take part in more sports, more often.”
