UCB Community Health Fund Support Clubs Hillingdon and Hounslow
9th April 2021

We are thrilled to have been awarded a grant from the UCB Community Health Fund to develop our services for disabled people in Hillingdon and Hounslow.

With the support of UCB Pharma, we will be able to reopen our Community Clubs in these two boroughs when guidelines allow, meaning that we can deliver sports activities in a safe, comfortable setting.

As part of the project, we will also expand our Home Activity Programme. More disabled people in Hillingdon and Hounslow will receive our hugely popular activity packs featuring specialist equipment and activity guide, so people can keep active either at home or in the local community.

Peter Ackred, CEO of Disability Sports Coach, said, ‘On behalf of all of our members and their families, thank you so much to UCB Pharma for this amazing award.

‘Disabled people have been disproportionately impacted by Covid-19. As guidelines change over the coming months and face-to-face activities resume, we are determined to keep disabled people more active and connected than ever before. Your support will help us reach more people in these communities at a time when they need us most.’

Claire Brading, Area Head UCB UK & Ireland, said: “The UCB Community Health Fund is a global fund aimed at supporting organisations to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable people worldwide impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are delighted to play a small part in the fantastic work taking place in the community by Disability Sports Coach to help keep disabled people in London active and well.”
