Could You be our New Trustee?
13th July 2021

Here at Disability Sports Coach, everything we do has one core goal: to support our disabled community and ensure everyone has the opportunity to enjoy sport to the fullest.

Being a registered charity, one of the key components of our organisation is our Board of Trustees. Our Board helps to shape, drive and monitor our charity’s strategy and vision, keeping us accountable to ensure we are having the best impact possible through our projects.

Our Board of Trustees is made up of individuals with expertise in various areas that relate to the successful running of a charity organisation – from communications and governance to legal and finance.

However, one key area of expertise that we have been hoping to add to our Board for some time now is the unique knowledge of the parent or carer of one of our community members themselves. These are some of the people we work the most closely with on a day-to-day basis, and they know what our participants want and need better than anyone.

So, we are very excited to announce a new vacancy for a member on our Board of Trustees with a parent or carer specialism.

This voluntary role is open to all parents and carers of Disability Sports Coach participants, and will involve attending quarterly Board meetings, subgroups and other ad-hoc consultation meetings and events.

The specific role requirements for the prospective Disability Sports Coach parent/carer representative trustee involves:

  • Representing the voice of parents and carers across our network
  • Supporting the Board to understand the needs of disabled people and those who support them
  • Playing a leading role in promoting the charity’s fundraising and awareness-raising campaigns
  • Where appropriate, engaging with external partners to raise the charity’s profile, for example by speaking with funders or the media

We are looking for an individual who understands the disabled community and the challenges faced by disabled people and their carers. The new Board member should also have a passion for disability rights, and a belief that community sport can improve the lives of disabled people.

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
