For the last edition of the Summer Festival 101 series we want to tell you the most important details, so you’re fully prepared coming to this year’s Summer Festival
We’re answering your most frequently asked questions so you can enjoy the day without a worry. If we have missed any of your questions don’t forget you can contact us using the details at the bottom of the page.
1. Do I need to register beforehand?
Yes, registration should be completed before the event using this link: https://dscsummerfestival2018.eventbrite.com
2. What time does registration open?
Registration opens at 10am, however you can register at any point throughout the day. All participants will be given a wristband once registered.
3. Is the Summer Festival free?
The Summer Festival is free but donations are welcome. All donations will go towards next year’s festival.
4. Can I register a group?
Yes, groups must register with Lauren before the event by emailing laurenm@disabilitysportscoach.co.uk.
5. Is Westway Sports Centre accessible?
Westway Sports & Fitness Centre is fully accessible with the majority of the event on one floor. Slopes are used to enter the main hall.
6. Is food and drink provided?
Food and drink is not provided. Please bring water with you to keep hydrated throughout the day and refill using the water fountains at the venue. It is advised to bring your own lunch, however there is a café on site and shops nearby.
7. Is parking available?
Parking is available for cars and mini-buses. Parking is £3.50 for up to 5 hours. There are a limited number of blue badge bays.
8. What is the closest tube station?
Latimer Road and Ladbroke Grove tube stations are within walking distance, as well as plenty of local bus routes. Find your route here.
9. Do I have to sign up for activities?
No each sports station is drop in. You can try any sport you, for as long as you want, when you want!
10. What time are the performances?
The Royal Society for Blind Children will be performing a choir performance at 1pm. The Closing Ceremony featuring a gymnastics performance by disability gymnast Natasha Coates, Special Guest Showdown, Special Guest speakers and awards ceremony will take place at 2.30pm.
11. What should I bring?
Suncream, water and money for the tombola if you want to have go!
12. What should I wear?
Anything you can move around in, preferably trainers. All participants will be given a club t-shirt on arrival.
13. Do I have to stay at the event for the whole day?
No, you can turn up, leave and re-enter whenever you want but if you do, keep your wristbands on!
14. Is there anywhere I can keep my bags?
There is no designated area for bags. Participants must keep their valuables with them at all times
15. Can my friends and family attend too?
Yes, the event is open to you, your friends and family! Please register any siblings that attend. Parents and support workers do not need to register.
