On Sunday 3 October, our Trustee Sam Vardy ran the marathon on the iconic Virgin Money London Marathon to raise awareness of the needs of disabled people in sport – and completed the race in under three hours!
Sam said, ‘Taking part in the London Marathon was an amazing experience, and it was lovely to see so many runners, volunteers and supporters come together after the last 18 months.
Like many people, running has been a release to me during this difficult period. It felt like the perfect conclusion to my lockdown running to take that training into such an iconic event and (with the kind assistance of many sponsors) raise over £2,000 for Disability Sports Coach.
The money raised by Sam will also help us continue delivering our life-changing weekly sports clubs for disabled people. Thanks for your support Sam!
